Living systems and bookshelves - 505 UP System - By Nicola Gallizia

The 505 UP system, a hallmark in Molteni&C's range of modular furniture for living areas, continues its evolution to cater to contemporary lifestyle demands. Born not only as a project for furniture but also for architecture, it creates space and plays with geometries reminiscent of buildings in a city.

Presenting new compositional possibilities, the "Stripe" door, featured in Molteni&C's Dada Engineered kitchens with a wood frame and central glass, is now available to complete both the Display and Harry’s Bar modules. The "Stripe" door finishes are available in all the woods from the 505 collection, offering a wide range of choices to meet both aesthetic and functional needs.

The 505 UP system features the optional inclusion of Calacatta Vena Vecchia textured ceramic, a material that has garnered increasing attention over time. Initially highlighted within the Harry's Bar module, this ceramic boasts a 4mm thickness, offering both durability and aesthetic allure. It seamlessly integrates with the melamine panel serving as its support, a material utilized in all back panels of the 505 system as well as in the Display module back panels.

The functionality of the 505 UP System transcends the traditional bookcase, morphing into a modern furniture piece that complements contemporary living concepts. Introducing a TV holder back with a veined wood panel adds further versatility to its design. Tailored to individual preferences, the 505 Up expands its repertoire beyond conventional bookcase functions. This is exemplified by the introduction of Display, an innovative protruding cabinet that enhances compositional and stylistic flexibility with its grid of horizontal and vertical shelves.

In 2023, Nicola Gallizia introduced a new door design featuring a full-height handle, adding an embellishing profile to the layout. Finishes such as coffee oak and an exclusive customizable 3D effect further enhance the system's aesthetic range.

The 505 UP Harry’s Bar module, conceived by Nicola Gallizia, revitalizes a classic element of living spaces: the mobile bar. Designed as a self-contained unit, it seamlessly integrates into the 505 system.

Featuring large doors with concealed hinges, the internal compartment offers storage for drink-related paraphernalia, ranging from tools to bottles, with options for wooden, ceramic, or Ecoskin coverings. Equipped with shelves, compartments, and drawers, the Harry’s Bar module facilitates the organization of essentials for the bar while maintaining an elegant aesthetic.

With a top surface and pull-out tray, the Harry’s Bar module provides a practical workspace for bartenders, complete with integrated LED lighting to illuminate the preparation area. 505 UP presents a TV holder back, featuring a panel available in veined wood.

The 505 Up is tailored to users’ needs and goes beyond classic bookcase functions, expanding its solutions thanks to the introduction of Display, a new and original protruding cabinet that allows the grid of horizontal and vertical shelves to be moved with maximum compositional and stylistic versatility.
